Die Grundlage: 20 Jahre Afrika Film Arbeit in Köln

FilmInitiativ hat seit 1992 bei Festivals und themen- bzw. länderspezifischen Veranstaltungsreihen 500 Filme sowie 100 Filmschaffende aus 30 Ländern des afrikanischen Kontinents in Köln vorgestellt (viele davon wurden auch an VeranstalterInnen in anderen Städten weiter vermittelt).
Damit wurde ein umfassender Überblick über die ersten 50 Jahre afrikanischer Kinematografie seit der Unabhängigkeit geboten sowie über die zeitgenössische Filmkunst des Kontinents.
Die dabei gesammelten Informationen zu Filmen und RegisseurInnen sollen bis Mitte 2015 komplett in die Datenbank eingespeist und auf dieser Internetseite abrufbar sein, soweit möglich und finanzierbar auch in Englisch und Französisch.
